Quilt - patchwork
A patchwork quilt has real magic.
With it, any home becomes warmer and more comfortable, and dreams become stronger and more beautiful. But the main thing is that under such a blanket it is not cold even in the most severe frosts.
YOU WILL NEED:
- fabric with "Angels" and "Sled" motifs -1.5 m
- one-color light fabric - 2 m
- one-color fabric of medium tone (you can use the remnants of fabric with motifs) -0.5 m
- one-color dark fabric - 0.5 m
- striped fabric - 3.5 m (from 360 rubles per 1 m)
- 10 patches of 30 x 30 cm in various light fabrics, matching the color scheme
- 2 packs of non-woven fabric for square markings - 100 x 90 or 120 x 100 cm
- filler for a blanket (thin synthetic winterizer or fleece) - 2.3 cm x 170 cm
- fabric for the back of the blanket - 2.4 m with a minimum width of 180 cm
- graph paper
- pencil
- a special ruler for pzchvorka
- needles for hand sewing and stitches
- scissors
- sewing threads and stitches
- paper tape
- tailor's pins
- textile pencil
1. Make 11 square blocks with central diamonds. For each block, sew small triangles into four large ones and stitch
them to the central diamond (photo 1).
2. Complete 12 "Hut" blocks (= 6 blocks each with a light and a dark center), using interlining as a base.
Connect the parts from the center, stitching them to the central square in a spiral (photo 2). When cutting and sewing, try to be accurate - only then will you avoid distortions of the fabric, and the seams will be straight. Stick the pins exactly along the seam line and, after performing the next operation, remove them (photo 3).
3. When making a quilt by hand, first complete the front of the product completely and only then iron it.
If you are sewing the parts on a typewriter, iron each seam sequentially after it is completed.
The exception is the blocks "Hut" - these blocks are ironed entirely.
4. According to the photo, sew the manufactured blocks into strips, then connect the strips with each other into a single canvas (photo 4).
Cut out a piece for the back of the quilt based on the size of the top patchwork + 5 cm on each side.
Cut out a piece of filler, which on each side should be 2.5 cm smaller than the bottom of the blanket.
If there is no filler and fabric of the required width at hand, make them composite.
5. Assemble the patchwork "sandwich": lay the back on a flat surface with the wrong side up and fix it with paper tape,
straightening the fabric gently. Place the filler and patchwork front right side up) on top and secure with tape as well.
Pin all three layers with pins or sweep with a large stitch. With threads of a contrasting color, stitch along the contours of the blocks (photo 5).
Accelerated version: stitch in knot technique - only along the tops of the squares: it can be made with bright threads (or in tone on tone), you can also add beads or decorative buttons.
6. Sew 7.2 cm wide strips of fabric into one long ribbon. Trim the edges of the blanket and tie it with ribbon (Pic 6).
